Bare Necessities is a small dairy farm where we are committed to a naturist, clothes free lifestyle. Because of our animals we are not free to travel often and therefore have created accommodation so that like minded people come to us ! We offer three rooms and camping facilities. A pool and sauna, hot tub and pool table just off the verandah where we all tend to braai/barbecue and generally relax. Short nude walks are possible.
We are essentially self catering but will cater on request and preferably with a little advance notice.
What to do in the area:
1.) We are 27 kms from historic Swellendam. (Third oldest town in S.A.) The museum is worth a few hours and this is the town to do your shopping in.
2.) The pont/ferry (man powered !)( not anymore unfortunately)!) at Malgas over the Breede river is worth a morning or afternoon visit with pizza on the river at the boat House.
3.) The Langeberg mountains and Tradouw Pass through them is breathtakingly beautiful with skinny dipping in the mountain pools.
4. Once through the pass one is in Barrydale with lots of restaurants and small tourist shops. Or carry on in the Klein Karoo to Ronnies sex shop for a beer and lunch.
5.) Witsand, where the Breede forms a lagoon before emptying into the Indian ocean is worth a day visit to the beach on the ocean or in the lagoon. A couple of sea view restaurants.
6.) Or just laze around Bare Necessities and catch some sun.
7.) Wine tasting between Bonnievale, Ashton and Robertson with lots of vineyards and restaurants.
8.) Bontebok National Park is close to Swellendam and worth a visit. Great if you have a wildcard.
9.) De Hoop Nature reserve is a bit further away but worth it if you want to spend the day on a beautiful beach.
Petro and Neels are the owners and are available all the time to assist with anything. Please see our photo in the gallery. We are the ones that still have most of our hair !
